Coronavirus (Covid-19) - latest update

I would like to thank all the members who have stayed away from St Albans Tennis Club, as requested by the Government during this Pandemic.

Following on from the Prime Ministers COVID-19 update, I am pleased to announce the tennis courts are re-opening from Wednesday 13th May 2020, under the following strict guidelines with every ones Health & Safety in mind.

You must have paid your 2020/2021 membership and have your shoe tag on display before entering the courts, if you have paid and not received your shoe tag please email enquiries@saltc.co.uk At this current time only paid members will be permitted to play without exception. You will be asked to leave if you are not wearing your shoe tag.

One person from a household can meet one other person from another household and play singles.

Families from the same household can play together on court. If you are a family of three, you cannot ask another person from another household to make up the fourth person.
All regular tennis activities, singles and doubles leagues, social tennis and team tennis are not allowed at this time.

Until further notice from the Government and LTA no other options of playing can take place.

The clubhouse will remain closed, there is no access to toilets, kitchen, changing rooms and floodlights. With this in mind, you will need to arrive at the tennis club in suitable clothing ready to play. However, a member of the committee will call in at the club at approx. 8pm and switch on court lights for anyone already playing. Flood lights will go off automatically at 9.30pm.

You will require a water bottle to fill up at the outside water fountain, please remember that many people may have touched this, so caution and consideration is advisable.

If you are using the score cards on each court, please move with the end of your racket as these may not have been cleaned.

We are expecting large numbers of members wishing to play tennis after the lengthy lockdown, the following restrictions will apply if members are waiting for a court. Singles and doubles are restricted to a maximum of 2 sets. If you are not playing sets and are having a casual hit you are restricted to 1 hour only.

This virus has not gone away, please remember your social distancing at all times, enjoy your tennis and stay safe!
