The mens team watched the weather forecast carefully as rain threatened to postpone their match against David Lloyd C tonight. The opposition turned up and after a brief discussion decided to play and hope the promised rain did not materialise - it didn't until the very end of the match.

Jason and Robbie, now in their winning stride took on the number one pairing and their experience of the well manicured grass paid dividends. Nursing a fragile elbow, Jason played with his usual flair and Robbie increased his topspin shots to good effect. They won the first pairing 10-6.

Anton and Mark dropped to 2-5 down in their first pairing against a resilient pair from David Lloyd. They then recovered to win the first match 9-7 giving the team encouragement for the second half.

Mark and Anton then came up against the stronger pair and with some extended rallies and deuce points, the pattern of play went a similar way to their first game, but infortunately not the result. They eventually secured 6 games losing 10. On the next court, the games were also long and with drizzle starting to set in, Colin watched with angst at a couple of 'slides' on the grass by the opposition (fortunately he managed to contain his emotions!). The match looked very close from a distance, but J & R won 15-1.

Overall result 40-24, so the first win of the league season and the team remain unbeaten thus far - well done. The table printed below puts us top of the division (although there may be a result or two still to come).
