Sophie Blake

I am a Level 3 coach and the reason I became a coach is the passion I have for the sport itself and to help others improve so as to have even more fun playing tennis!  My background in both the hotel industry and as a driving instructor give me the people skills, teaching ability and patience to be a good coach. My enthusiasm for the sport comes accross in my coaching style and I pack the lessons with fun and games while still focusing on developing skills and matchplay.  

I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the top coaches including Judy Murray and Kris Souter on a programme called Tennis on the Road - an inspirational programme getting large numbers into tennis and includes many of the skills and games Judy used with Andy and Jamie when they were growing up.  I also coach Miss Hits - another Judy Murray programme designed to get more young girls into tennis. 

At the start of 2016 I was selected to be part of the Davis Cup Legacy team.  As most of you will know Great Britain won the Davis Cup for the first time in 79 years - a truely fantastic achievment.  I am now part of a group of coaches dedicated to bringing a new golden era to British tennis.

The better you become at something the more enjoyment you will get out of it! I thoroughly enjoy my job and there is no better feeling than seeing a group improve week by week and being part of creating a new generation of tennis lovers.
