Mixed fortunes for the various Swanmore LTC league teams over the summer

Many thanks to all those who have represented Swanmore LTC over the summer season. Although not quite complete, here's what the league tables are currently showing.

Southampton Apsley League Summer 2022

A Team - Captain: Joanna Nield 
Playing in the Premier Division, the A team  held their own finishing a creditable sixth place. Winchester A and Warsash A proved to be the ones to beat, finishing first and second respectively.

B Team - Captain: Stuart Doherty 
Stuart and his team found the going tough in Division 1 and are in eighth place with one match remaining. The two runaway teams in this league were JEM Tennis and Bassett A.

C Team - Captain: Mandy White
Playing in Division 3, the team look like finishing in second place behind Twyford with just a game or two to go and and may well be promoted next summer.

D Team - Captain: Ben Reid
Ben's and his fellow players have found the going tough in Division 4 against some useful opposition and finished the season in seventh place.


East Hants Summer League 2022

Mens Doubles Team - Captain: Stuart Doherty
Currently sitting pretty at the top of the table in the top division with 43 points, they could well end up as league winners. There are just a handful of other clubs still to complete their fixturesbefore the outcome is known officially.

Womens Doubles A Team - Captain: Nicola Carne
With a couple of matches to go to complete the league fixtures, Swanmore will finish in third place in the top division. Well done ladies.

Womens Doubles B Team - Captain: Katie Chamberlain
Congratulations to Katie and her teamt - Swanmore womens B team - who have ended up top of the league, a clear six points ahead of second placed Steep B. They are promoted.

Mixed Doubles A Team - Captain: Sam Hutchinson
Currently top of Division 1 and with a healthy 13 point lead, Swanmore look like becoming champions. We'll keep the shampagne on ice Sam until the final outcome is known. 

Mixed Doubles B Team - Captain: Stuart Doherty
Also playing alongside the A team in the top division, Swanmore B have had a tough summer season and placed sixth. 


Portsmouth & District LTA Summer 2022 Masters League

A new venture for Swanmore LTC this past summer was entering a Ladies and a Mixed team into the Masters League - female playes must be 45 and over and male team members 50 years and older.

Womens Doubles Team - Captain: Samantha Hutchinson

Mixed Doubles Team - Captain: Mike Schwarz

Both teams had excellent unbeaten campaigns gaining promotion to the top divisions. The higher standard will certainly be a tougher challenge.

The ladies masters team, competing in Division 2, won all eight of their matches with a clear gap of five points to second placed Avenue 2. Not to be outdone, the mixed team also recorded eight straight wins to comfortbaly top their league.
