With school holidays starting next week, club coach, Ian Watson, has planned a lot of activities for mini tennis and juniors will be play sessions rather than coaching. The children can stay all day but should bring a packed lunch and off court games. Table tennis will be available. Those under 6yrs should have a parent with them. Mini Tennis – Red ball will be in the indoor court from 9am – 11am. For orange and green ball players the sessions will be from 11am – 1pm. The sessions for our older juniors – yellow ball will be 1pm – 4pm. These sessions will also be indoors if wet.
This Saturday 25th will be the last of the Tots Tennis and Mini Tennis sessions until schools re-open in September. Last Saturday saw the biggest attendance so far with 47 children spread over the three sessions. Currently, we cannot take anymore for Mini Tennis but anyone wanting their child to try the 3 free sessions in September can register their child by e-mail albanytennispr@manx.net or ianwatsonpts@manx.net or phone 861497 or 496293.
Activities at Albany are not all for juniors! Ian is running a six-week adult course for those who used to play and want to return to the game or beginners. This will start on Friday 31 July from 6pm – 7pm and cost £30 for 6 lessons which will be refunded if player becomes a member.
There is also Coaching Clinics for adult members on Tuesdays – 6pm – 7pm. There is no charge for the sessions which will be game based drills and tactics. Then why not stay on for the Tuesday evening club session?
Members are reminded that the last Tuesday of each month we are holding an American Tournament which is also open to non-members – players from other clubs will be made welcome. Put your names on the list in the indoor court and club room or phone 861497 or e-mail albanytennispr@manx.net.
The Isle of Man LTA Senior Championships will this year be held at Albany from 1st – 9th August. Entries close on 8pm on 29th July. Entry is e-mail iomtennis@manx.net or enter on line. Entry fee is £6 singles and £4 per player for doubles. All competitors in singles events must be a member of the LTA Membership Scheme and have an LTA Rating.
