Shipping Container being delivered on Monday

As you may or may not be aware we have for some time been looking for somewhere to store all the club's maintenance equipment. This was to be either a large shed or a second hand shipping container. This has been on hold due to lack of finances. About two months ago we were offered, by Kris Page, the container from the harbour next to the burger van. We immediately put in for planning permission and were granted this last week as a 3 year temporary structure (which we are assured can be renewed provided that it is kept in good order).

The container has now been moved from it's position in the harbour and is sitting on a trailer ready for delivery. All being well this should happen on Monday.

Now a container is not a thing of great beauty and this one is less than a perfect specimen of it's type (see attachment). It is painted white and decorated with murals and has a patina of rust speckles and some more extensive patches of surface rust. It is therefore going to need some work to blend it in to the pleasant surroundings of the club and to avoid annoying the neighbours.

The aim is to end up with a "clubhouse green" container which fits in with the other buildings but, in order to make sure it stays this way, this will need to be achieved in 3 stages:

1 - Removal of rust and loose paint and localized treatment of rust (with Kurust)

2 - Painting with a rust preventative red lead primer

3 - Painting Green

I am therefore putting out this request for able bodied volunteers. Phase 1 is the most arduous and will require volunteers to supply their own sanding devices. Phases 2 & 3 are less arduous but no runs are allowed!

Some volunteers may prefer working on their own and others in a working party - If you wish to volunteer please let me know your availability, abilities and working preferences.
