Singles Ranking Ladder

Junior members of Warwick Boat Club aged 10+ will now have the opportunity to challenge each other in a new Singles Ranking Ladder throughout the year. The ladder is managed online by the players to arrange challenge matches, submit their results and view the up-to-date rankings.

Ladder Objectives
- Find more players outside of their current playing circle
- Test and develop their game and skills under pressure
- Encourage regular internal singles competition
- Raise the playing standard across the club
- Prepare players for upcoming individual or team competitions
- Establish a ranking order between players
- Allow captains to better understand team selection and positions for club matches
- Identify best suited training squads for players within the coaching programme
Player Criteria
- Junior Members of Warwick Boat Club aged 10+
- Players committed to actively accepting ladder challenges and challenging up
- Inactive players over a duration of time will be removed from the ladder
- Players that are injured or away for long periods of time (University) can be added into the ladder when available
Challenge Rules
- Players can challenge any player up to a maximum of 3 positions higher or lower
- Two players can't play each other back-to-back, they both must play other players before playing each other again
- If the lower ranked player wins, they move above the higher ranked player. No change if the higher ranked player wins
- If the challengee does not accept or try to arrange to play after a certain period of time, then the win will be awarded to the challenger by the league organiser
Create Challenge
- Select the player you want to Challenge and note your availability and how you wish to be contacted in the comments section
- Once challenged, both players must promptly arrange to play at an agreed day and time
- Select the agreed day and time online
- Players must book an available court at the agreed day, time and venue (90 minutes)
Match Format
- The Challenger provides the match balls (4 good condition balls)
- Both players arrive ready to play on time
- Floodlight costs (if needed) are shared by both players (£1/15 Minutes)
- Match warm-up for 5-10 minutes, then spin for serve and ends
- Play 13 normal games (Deuce/Advantage), tie-break to 7 points if 6-6 in games
- Final score will finish as one of the following: 7-6 / 8-5 / 9-4 / 10-3 / 11-2 / 12-1 / 13-0
Submit Result
- Both players must enter and confirm the match result online as soon as possible after the match has finished for the ladder to keep up to date
- Select the final score (7-6 / 8-5 / 9-4 / 10-3 / 11-2 / 12-1 / 13-0) and match winner
- The ladder will update and you can continue creating and accepting challenges
