Mens Cohort - February 2022 Update

February was a great month for the Men’s cohort with a surprising amount of tennis played given some turbulent English weather

Our Mens 1 team had 4 matches with consummate victory Halton 3, Ben McCrory teaming up with new partner Mike Chase in the absence of Pete played well for 3 sets and Dan Norton continued to cover up his captain’s shortcomings with an impressive display to take all 4 sets in an overall 7-1 win

The following match vs Horsenden 2 was a similar story but showed the depth of the squad with Simon Sluszny making an always welcome appearance in another routine 7-1 win

This setup the top of the table showdown with Berkhamsted 1 and ultimately Storm Eunice, with the visitors pushing to start early to avoid the weather. We turned halfway 3-1 up just as the weather started to arrive, however, with the captain Nathan Glynn smelling glory and having been forced to wake up and start early was in no mood for rescheduling hammering the last 2 sets 6-0/6-1 with the other rubber just watching on with the rain starting to fall to finish off an overall 5-3 win.

The final match against Great Missenden 3 at their courts in what was a sunny but very windy affair was a nice 6-2 win, with Aston Park only needing 2 sets to be crowned Division 5 champions.

Our Mens 2 had a quieter February by comparison with 1 match played and 1 postponed due to the weather. It was still a great 5-3 win over Aylesbury 2 with both pairs taking advantage of a slightly weaker 2nd Aylesbury pair to claim 4 sets and Andy May/JP Choi clinching that all important 5th set at the death.

Mens 3 had a some planned quiet time in February contemplating their games in hand and preparing to propel themselves up the Div 10 table in March
