A little of bit wind or 40mph gusts as it turned out did not put off 24 Aston park Tennis members from participating in the first of the club's intra tournaments of summer 2023 in the Easter sunshine.

In conditions that made for some eventful and at times hilarious shot play with "Kyrgios" underarm serving (simply because it was too windy for overarm) and the now infamous "flap", husband was pitted against wife, Mens 2 Captain vs Ladies 2 Captain as the Pendleberys (Mark & Kerry) captained teams of 12 in an eventful 3 hour tennis tournament similar to the Laver Cup, with a mixture of mens, ladies and mixed doubles across 6 x 30 minute rounds

Whilst the standard of tennis was some what levelled by the conditions, the day organised by the ingenious Pete Abdey (Social Sec) was filled with laughter, fun and good cheer amongst the sunshine and very heavy winds.

In the end it was the White team, captained by Kerry that prevailed in a very tight 27-24 victory

Next up Round 2 on 18th June, bragging rights up for grabs again although hopefully milder conditions in the peak of summer
