The photo is of Sam Rush (winner of Ladies Singles 2023 and 2024) with Chris Reevey (winner of Ladies Singles 1970 - 1974).

The name C Reevey is on the base of the trophy five years in a row and I have seen that many times over the past few years. It suddenly dawned on me that I knew a C Reevey,  now in her 80s so possibly she had been playing tennis back in the 1970s. And I was right,  it turned out it was the Chris that I knew!

Sam, bless her, agreed to come down to the club one afternoon to meet Chris. Chris was thrilled to see her cup again, to meet and chat with Sam and to see her name on the honours board for the first time!
