Official opening of BLTC's new courts

Officially opened by the Mayor of Barnsley, Jeff Ennis, along with help from many of the Club's junior members; dignitaries, guests and Club partners celebrated a significant achievement in the development of Barnsley Lawn Tennis Club.

Expansion to a 7 court Club was officially completed and all members and partners involved in the provision of the new facilities were invited to the event to celebrate the opening of the superb facilities at the Club.

The opening event was introduced to the invited audience by the Club's chairman, Chris Day, whose vision and drive had been instrumental throughout the whole process from inception to the celebratory opening event.  Chris thanked everyone for attending and made special reference to the partners involved in the projects and how their help and assistance had resulted in the fantastic facilities that are now available to members and the community.

The Mayor, Jeff Ennis, Dan Jarvis MP, who had provided assistance during the project's progression, Anthony Devonport, BMBC, who had commissioned the new courts project, Paul Bennett from the Lawn Tennis Association, who had helped with finance and development advice for the refurbishment works, Karen Follows from the developer, Persimmon, and Nigel Hunter from the Club's coaching partners, i2c.

All attending the opening event had the opportunity to  see the superb new facilities in use.  Following the ribbon cutting by the Mayor, the excited junior members were invited onto the fantastic new courts to participate in their coaching programme activities.
