Beacon Park Tennis Survey Results 2025

Beacon Park Tennis Survey Results 2025

Beacon Park Tennis is a charity run by dedicated volunteers, committed to serving the local community. As we mark five years since the opening of our improved facility, we conducted a survey to better understand your experiences—how you currently use the courts and what enhancements you'd like to see in the future.

Thank You for Your Participation

A heartfelt thank you to the 24 individuals who took part in the survey! Your input is invaluable in helping us continue to make Beacon Park Tennis an inclusive and thriving facility for all.

Here’s what we learned:

  • 79% of respondents play on the courts once per week or more.
  • 92% believe the courts have had a positive impact on their health and fitness.
  • 58% have played under the floodlights.
  • Booking Experience - respondents found the Clubspark website slightly easier than the Booker phone app.  But both scored over 8/10
  • Preferred Communication Channels - there was a diverse mix of preferences when it comes to staying informed.  So we will keep advertising on all channels plus word of mouth and the noticeboard.

Would You Recommend Beacon Park Tennis?

A resounding 9.6/10 score—an encouraging sign that our courts and community are making a positive impact!

What We Learned & What’s Next

Ways to Improve Your Experience

The top suggestions for increasing court usage were: ✅ More events & competitions ✅ More social tennis ✅ Closer toilet facilities

Our Response

  • Expanding Events: In 2025, we’re hosting more events than ever! Plus, Tennis for Free sessions will now run year-round.
  • Social Tennis: We’re exploring the possibility of adding another social tennis session to the calendar.
  • Closer Toilets: Installing new toilets near the courts isn't currently financially feasible. However, we will be working with Lichfield District Council to explore ways to improve access to existing toilet facilities.

Pickleball Interest Is Growing!

An impressive 80% of survey respondents expressed interest in playing Pickleball, with one participant even stating they’d buy an annual pass if we had court markings for it!

📌 Exciting News: We have a Pickleball taster session scheduled in June, we’ll review interest and consider marking Court 4 for Pickleball play.

Addressing Your Specific Feedback

Cost of Play & Annual Passes

Beacon Park Tennis is committed to keeping costs low while maintaining a top-quality facility in Lichfield. We provide free tennis sessions through the Tennis Social and Tennis for Free coaching.

Revenue from tennis bookings, annual passes, and commercial bookings (netball & fitness classes) helps us:

  • Repay the loan taken out to redevelop the courts in 2020.
  • Raise funds for future maintenance & improvements.

Floodlights are charged at cost to cover electricity usage.

Adding Toilets or a Practice Wall?

As a charity, our priority is repaying the redevelopment loan while ensuring sustainable maintenance. At this time, further site development isn’t financially viable. However, we will engage with Lichfield District Council to explore ways to make existing toilet facilities more accessible.

Floodlight Timing Issues

Floodlights are programmed annually, with 12 different schedules to reflect hours of darkness. While the system ensures court visibility, it isn't perfect:

  • Lights may need to be switched on for the full booking, even if only required for the second half.
  • Weather conditions sometimes create a need for extra lighting, which can't be accounted for in pre-set schedules.

Court Reservations That Go Unused

A polite request to all players—if you book a court and cannot play, please cancel the booking to allow others the chance to use it.
