Dear Bingley Grammar school artists,
RE: Results of the logo competition
Beckfoot and Bingley Tennis Club was formed in 1946 and is has 4 Italian Clay courts. The court surface which produces world-class players, is also the healthiest, absorbing the stress on knees and joints. We have a growing membership including, seeded players training for clay court international tournaments such as Roland Garros in Paris and in regional leagues. Plus, many members playing simply for fun, to keep fit and to enjoy social time with other like-minded tennis enthusiasts.
As part of bringing our image up to date (while always remembering our heritage), we asked pupils to design a new logo. We were thrilled with the response with over 70 outstanding and varied designs.
We met as a committee to review all submissions and were astonished by the talent, innovation and thought put into the work. To give you an indication as to how difficult it was to choose, shortlisting went to three rounds with much animated and protracted discussion. We could have adopted many of the designs, so you made it challenging to choose!
Our sincere thanks to all those who participated. We would like to display your work in an open day at the club and welcome you to come down and have enjoy the display and a free knock at tennis club if you wish at the same time. We will let you know a dates during the summer. Rackets and balls are available at the club.
From the final shortlist we elected to have joint winners, as we have taken the terrific strap line from one, the wonderful visual concept design from another. The final combination Logo and strap line as below. This will be printed and/or embroidered onto tennis clothing for players. The logo will be seen across Yorkshire and beyond as our 9 teams play home and away competitively. Plus the logo and strap line will be displayed on our social media sites at the club and at events.
The top three winners receive a season’s membership. The joint winners received an Amazon voucher each. A further thank you to Adam Davenport for supporting this venture.
Kind Regards,
Anwen James-Richards
