BERYL WARREN (1929 – 2020)

We are sad to announce the death of Beryl Warren on 4 November 2020.

Beryl, as indeed all the Warren family are, was heavily involved in tennis in the county in the 1980’s and 1990’s.  She ran the Juniors from 1981 – 1991 and her sons played for the County during that time.

She was made a Vice President of Berkshire Tennis in the mid 1990’s and her contribution to and enthusiasm for tennis was without question. This continued even in retirement when she and her husband moved to Eastbourne and Beryl took every opportunity to go to Devonshire Park following all levels of tennis at the venue.

She progressively lost her sight but even though she was virtually blind she still regularly supported the over 35’s team.  She just liked being near the courts, listening to the sounds of tennis and hearing all the voices of the Berkshire team and families that she knew so well.

She was a true Berkshire legend.
