Birkdale LTC AGM 2024
Thank you to the members that attended this year’s AGM. Special thanks to all the committee members who put together their relevant reports for the meeting.
We still have the position of social secretary vacant so if would be interested in the role please do get in touch.

2024 Adult Summer Season
We are currently 2 weeks into match practice with 2 more to go before the start of the season. If you wish to play in the teams this year it is vital you try to attend. Links for the nights are still accessible on the announcements page.
The Southport Tennis League has recently adopted new rules which take effect this season. One of the main changes is making sure named players play regularly for their respective team. Due to this, in the next week, we will be sending players a link to fill in a short tick box form where you will be asked to fill in various information such as your availability on certain days/weeks, team preferences, etc…
Provisional league fixtures are now available with the first week’s fixtures being as follows :
Monday 29 April at 6:30pm
1st team AWAY vs. Argyle 1
2nd team HOME vs. Town Green 1
Tuesday 30 April at 6:30pm
3rd team AWAY vs. Formby Village 3
4th team HOME vs. Southbank 3
Wednesday 1 May at 6:30pm
5th team HOME vs. Formby Village 4
2024 Junior Summer Season
This year we have again entered junior teams in each age group and match practice has already begun for them.
League fixtures are due to be released this coming weekend and when we receive them we will share them as soon as possible. We do however know that the league starts 27 April.
Well done to Namrita and Mark for all their hard work with the junior section.
Preseason Friendly
Thanks also to Simon who has arranged a pre-season inter-club friendly between Aughton LTC at home on Friday 19 April at 6:30pm. Good luck to all those playing!
Tennis Pavilion and Court Improvements
The ongoing refurbishments to our beloved tennis pavilion are continuing at pace. Work done to the toilet room is now complete and looks fantastic.
Other completed work includes our new court signage, the replacement of the faulty floodlight bulb, the new gate on court 3 and the instigation of the new blue windbreaks around the courts. We have more windbreaks that will be installed before the first league matches.
Well done to Denise, the committee and those volunteering for all their hard work.
Pickleball Taster Session
Pickleball is coming to Birkdale LTC! A free taster session is open to ALL members on Saturday 20 April from 2:30-4:30.
The session will be run by a qualified coach who will be on hand to explain the rules and give some basic instructions. Equipment will be provided to those attending.

Padel Tennis
The committee has begun the process of bringing padel tennis to the club. We are in early discussions with the main club and are currently putting together grant/loan applications to help fund the project.

Tennis Holiday
The tennis holiday to Santa Posa, Majorca being organised by Simon is being finalised next week and deposits taken. We hope everyone going will have a great time!
