Club Championships
Tournament Format
The default format for all categories is a Knockout.
The tournament organiser will seed an appropriate number of players within each category; one for each section of the draw. These seeds will be distributed evenly and randomly throughout each section of the tournament draw to prevent them playing against each other too early.
The remaining players will then be randomly added in to the vacant spots in the draw.
A seeded draw results is a more balanced final.
Where there are insufficient entries in an individual category to warrant a Knockout a Round-Robin format (with the top players advancing to the Final) may be used.
Tournament Rules
All matches, EXCEPT FINALS, to be arranged by the players involved for a time that suits both and which falls within the specified dates for the round (see tournament sheet).
Except that:
To accommodate other commitments, matches may be played before the allotted time period if both players agree.
Providing the tournament coordinator (named on the tournament sheet) is informed before the end of the allotted time period, matches may be deferred to the next time period in the event of injury, illness, annual holiday or inclement weather. Matches cannot be deferred beyond the next time period.
Where no "notification to defer" is received , at the discretion of the tournament coordinator, matches not played within the allotted time period will be forfeited with neither player advancing (unless there is clear evidence that the delay is due to a single player).
All FINALS to be played on "Finals Day".
(Note: To accomodate a significant number of finalists being unavailable, it has been agreed that ALL FINALS should be played at a time to suit those involved AND before the end of September).
