On Sunday 16th June we held our mixed doubles tournament with 13 pairs playing LTA fast four sets in two round robins, the winners of which played in the grand final. We also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the tennis club, which was founded in 1983. The tournament winners were Harriet Gresty-Jones and George Lawrence, who won all of their matches. Their prizes were tennis lessons kindly donated by JWT Coaching, tubes of tennis balls. Val Castle, one of the founding members of the club, presented the Castle Cup, and Jane Lawrence baked a delicious tennis themed cake which we enjoyed with our sandwich lunch provided by Sarah Layden and Dirmuid Jennings. Everybody had a lot of fun and we finished in time to watch the Wimbledon final!
