Tennis Is Back!

I hope you are well!

The government's tennis restart date is the 29th March (hurrah!) and although we can't make guarantees (due to the changing nature of events surrounding Covid), we as a committee have been busy making plans to ensure we will be back on court from that date.

We are being cautious and to start with the approach is similar to last Autumn;
- Follow all covid precautions
- Club house closed
- No public bookings, no guests, members only
- All players on court to be pre-booked by Full name, either on the court booking system or with a coach or with a club session organiser.

We will be resuming club memberships over the next few weeks. All memberships will be extended at no cost for 3 months. Where appropriate, membership debit payments to start in May. Please let us know if you see any anomalies with your membership. If you are part of the coaching scheme Will and Dan will be in touch, if they have not already done so.

The club sessions will each initially be 8 people on 2 courts over a mix of daytime and evening. Subject to demand (and covid guidelines), We may increase the popular sessions to 3 courts (and ultimately 4) and also put on other sessions. Please let me know if you would like to help run a club session or would prefer different times. We use whatsapp groups as the most convenient method for co-ordinating players for the session. The current sessions (and organisers) may always be viewed on our court booking system.

We are looking to complete the 2020 club championships in the first half of April. If you are lucky enough to still be involved, expect a call from Tim.

Looking ahead; there is a possibility that match tennis may restart in May, but this is dependent on Shropshire LTA as well as covid guidelines. We would like to organise the usual raft of club tournaments that punctuate our season, but these will not be until mid-june at the earliest. We may be able to start the 2021 club championships sooner.

We have many more members than in the past and a glorious summer on the horizon, so it is important we make best/optimum use of our courts. Please make sure you book correctly (with all names in full), and remember to cancel if you cannot use a court, and please report any difficulties to the committee. Otherwise, enjoy your tennis and I look forward to seeing you on court.

Finally, I'd like to thank the committee for all their hard work, particularly those refurbishing the pavilion to a splendid state ready for when we are able to re-use it.

The courts have now been opened up on the website/booking system to allow everyone to start booking courts from the 29th!

Regards, Barry
