Club Guidelines

Bovingdon & Flaunden Tennis Club

Club Guidelines

With effect from 17th May 2021

Given the global pandemic our club guidelines are somewhat lengthier than previously written and are based on LTA guidelines which can be found here. It is important that you read these guidelines prior to playing tennis at the club and that you revisit them regularly as guidance is changing all the time. Ultimately these are written to keep you and all members of, and visitors to, Bovingdon & Flaunden Tennis Club safe during their time on the premises. Thank you for reading and abiding by these guidelines.

The guidelines cover:

  • Pre-travel
  • Coming and Going
  • Around and about the Club
  • Lighting up
  • Spectating and Supervising
  • Club Meetings
  • Social Tennis
  • Staying in touch
  • Testing Positive

Pre-Travel

Before leaving home anyone attending the Club (including players, coaches, staff and visitors), should undergo a self-assessment for any COVID- 19 symptoms. This can be done using information on the NHS website.

If you, or someone in your household, has symptoms of COVID-19 such as a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss of taste of smell, please do not come to the Club.

Please follow any Government guidance on travel within and outside your area, as defined by the Government.

Coming and Going

Please remember to maintain a two-meter distance at all times. There are signs around the Club to reinforce this. As soon as you arrive at the court please sanitize your hands. Dispensers are installed at the Clubhouse and by courts.

The next thing to do is to sign in. There is a QR code posted above the hand sanitizer at the Clubhouse and other posters around the premises. Alternatively, for those on WhatsApp chat groups a form is hosted on the information page, along with the Defib access code. It is important that we know who has played in order to be able to contact you in the event of a health and safety matter.

Group socializing before / after tennis is permitted outdoors up to a rule of 30 as long as social distancing is maintained.

Having finished your game please sanitize your hands again as you may have come into contact with surfaces touched by others.

Around and About the Club

Club House

The club house may be used subject to the rule of six. All those entering should sanitize their hands prior to entry and will need to sign in using the sign in sheet provided.  A mask should be worn at all times while in the club house. On exiting, please ensure you clean and santize touch points and hands should be sanitized again.

Shelters

Spectators are now allowed up to a limit of 30 so the shelter and other general seating can be used provided that social distancing is practiced.

First Aid

Access to first aid and emergency equipment is still available as the safety of our members and guests is paramount. If treating someone please remember to sanitize your hands before and after and wear a face covering.  Guidance on delivering first aid during the coronavirus pandemic is available on the St John Ambulance website

Nets

Nets will be maintained at the appropriate height to avoid players having to adjust them. Where possible, please also limit the surfaces that you touch. If you do use equipment such as brushes to clear courts, you should sanitize your hands before and after using the equipment.

Similarly, players are advised to use their equipment to limit sharing.

Lighting up

When using the floodlights please sanitize your hands prior to opening the relevant box.

Coaching

Our coaches will act within LTA guidelines to deliver coaching activities safely.

Supervising and Spectating

Spectators are now allowed subject to a rule of 30 and provided that you maintain social distancing.

The LTA has advised that the Club may be subject to sanctions if we don’t abide by any legal requirements.

Club Meetings

All Club meetings will conform to Government and LTA guidance on meetings.

Social Tennis

Please refer to separate notes that will be published to members which detail guidelines for social tennis activities.

Staying in touch

These guidelines will be updated as Government and LTA advice changes. As this happens we will keep members informed.

As undertaking any activity, including tennis, has the potential for increased risk of transmission of COVID-19, we advise attendees to read the Government’s guidance on staying safe outside your home.

Full details of differing tennis activities are provided in the LTA’s summary grid
