Tournament Update

The tournament is progressing well and starting to hot up with just three weeks to go until finals day on July 1st. Here are the results from the last week's play.

Duncan Hurlstone beat Graham Alty in two sets in the mens singles main draw. Duncan goes on to play Steve Coleman in a repeat of last year's quarter final.

In the ladies doubles, Gill Birrell and Fran Hughes' experience proved too much for Joanna Waterhouse and Angela Bowcock. 

In the mixed doubles, Flossie and Barney Bird lost out to no 1 seeds, Duncan Hurlstone and Karen Hirst.

In the U13 event; Amelia Khan beat Sam Jones in two sets in her first competitive win.

Two mens singles results on Saturday. In the main draw, John Cormack beat Adam Asif in two sets. John faces Jonathan Khan in the next round. Adam is looking like a strong candidate for future events. Adam plays Dave Ginger in the consolation draw. 

Awaiting the winner of that match is Rob Melling, who edged past Simon Tobi in two close sets.

Jonathan Khan and Raj Kushwaha edged past Patrick O'Malley and Stuart Shalom in two very close sets. Raj and JK face Richard White and Ronnie Maclean in the quarter final; where all the seeded pairs have made it to the last 8.

Liz Baker and Louise Whyte beat Maura McKibbin and Flossie Bird in the ladies doubles. Flossie and Maura face Georgia Bailey and Annie Hayton in the consolation draw; while Liz and Louise play Karen Hirst and Fiona Murray.

In probably the closest match of the tournament so far; Tony Kumeta and Simon Tobi beat Guy Johnson and Ben Davies in three very close sets in the mens doubles consolation draw.
