Highs and Lows for Huggon and mixed consolation semis decided
Phil Huggon experienced mixed fortunes on Monday 20th June. He and Jackie (1) booked their place in the mixed doubles final with a win over Ruth and Simon Tobi. They will face Duncan Hurlstone and Karen Hirst (2) in a repeat of last year's epic final.
In what must be the match of the tournament so far, Phil and Geraint Davies (3) lost to Stuart Thwaites and Lee Clarke (1) in the sets; 10-8 being the scoreline in the third set.
There will two results in the mixed consolation draw. Alex and Anna Gerhard beat Isabelle Perrett and Howard Forrest to set up a semi final against Mike Harris and Joanne Bernstein. Meanwhile, Rowena and Paul Allen beat Robin Bernstein and Julie Besbrode in a very tight match to book their SF place against Antony and Madeleine Perrett.
Some more important matches planned today as Saturday's final day draws closer.
In the ladies singles, Sarah Salton and Frances Zeris go head to head to determine Heidi Bailey's opponent in Saturday's final.
In the first mens singles semi final, Duncan Hurlstone (4) plays Lee Clarke (2), while Ben Davies and Colin Wooldridge face off in the consolation draw.
In the ladies doubles, Helen Judd and Jackie Huggon (1) play Julie Besbrode and Joanne Bernstein to determine who faces Helen Williams and Karen Hirst (4) in Thursday's semi final.
