Mens doubles

Richard White and Ronnie McLean went through at the expense of Graham Bowcock and James Hider. A saved match point early in the second set ensured a close result for that set.

David Clift and Nick Hill also won out in two against Dave Ginger and Adam Jones. David and Nick go on to meet Geraint and Phil (No 1 seeds) in round 2.

Mixed doubles

It's great to see some of our younger members taking part this year. In an enjoyable match Flossie and Barney Bird edged past Liz and Will Baker, by just one net break in each set. Loads of competitive rallies and hustling; great fun to watch. Flossie and Barney go on to take on the No 1 seeds Duncan and Karen.

On court at the same time, Helen Judd and Steve Coleman played Fran and Ben Hughes (pictured) in a repeat of last year's meeting. A well deserved early break for the Hughes' could not be capitalised on and Helen and Steve won in two.
