50th Anniversary of Bridge Tennis Club!

In 1975 a loaf of bread cost just 11p. A pint of lager in a local pub was 20p, while a pack of cigarettes cost 20p for 20. The average house price in Great Britain is just £16,980.

And more significantly than all of that, Bridge Tennis Club (BTC) was formed. We’re taking the opportunity to celebrate the club’s history, bring members together, and raise awareness of BTC within the local community. A small group of volunteers, including committee members, has started planning events and initiatives.

A mix of social, competitive, and community-focused events will ensure the anniversary celebrations appeal to all members and encourage wider engagement.

There are 3 main event ideas which we are starting to take forward.

50th Anniversary Tournament

Under 50s team V 50 and overs team - Sunday June 22nd

All members are encouraged to take part. Please watch the video and send an email to jonathandearth@hotmail.com to indicate if you want to play singles or doubles. We try and match everyone up so they can play

Barclays Big Tennis Weekend

A public event inviting non-members to experience our fantastic club.

There will be free coaching sessions, taster matches, and family-friendly activities.

And we will be using it as an opportunity to attract new members and promote the club.

Organised by committee members Simon Wilson & Stewart Bristow and in conjunction with the LTA's Big Tennis Weekend programme

Proposed weekend: 14th/15th June.

Members Social Celebration

A chance for members to celebrate away from the court with a glass in hand and music to dance to!

This is planned for September/October – the details of which are being worked on currently. And we will tell you more about it in future editions of this enewsletter. Faye Lillie is leading on this for the club.
