Thank you to all members who volunteered for the first four months of the courts brushing rota. It has really made a difference, and the courts are looking and, more importantly, playing really well for the time of year.
Please find below the rota for February and March.
If any other members can volunteer – about an hour every 4 weeks – that would be greatly appreciated, and please email shaun@bubwithtennisclub.co.uk.
Please can all on the rota email back to confirm receipt and that selected dates are ok or any issue with any of them (swaps can be arranged if need be).

A few points based on experience:
1. Leaf clearance before doing the brushing was vital – it is I think a relief to us all we no longer have to do that !
2. The brush should do the work, not the user – it is designed just to be walked along the surface, downward pressure is neither needed not desirable
3. The advice from Replay is that weekly brushing is an important part of court maintenance – it provides a significant benefit to the courts and cannot possibly have any detriment so long as unnecessary downward pressure is not applied
4. Whilst the recommendation from Replay is to brush the whole court, experience has shown that the greatest slip risk is the baselines and behind them and the tram lines and the sides of the court, thus priority should be given to those areas
5. If petrol running low, please contact our Facilities Coordinator Andy Corfield – he has to mix petrol with 2 stroke
6. Well done and thanks to all brushers – the courts are looking better and are safer for play than if we did not do this
Thank you.
