Burton squash players dominated the latter stages of the Derbyshire Over 55s Men’s Squash Tournament held at Duffield Squash Club.

Three of the last four players in the competition hail from Burton Tennis and Squash Club.Simon Barnet (last year’s winner), Rob Lathbury and Doug Whitfield all reached the semi-finals.It was clubmates Lathbury and Whitfield who went on to play in the final.

Rob played a really determined match and got off to a good start by taking the first close-fought game; however, Doug managed to hit back by winning the following two games, just managing to scrape through against Rob's front court superiority. At 2-1, in a very tight match, Doug, with the finishing line in sight, proceeded to pull away in the fourth game, winning it 9-5 and the match 3-1, making it two years in succession that a Burton player has won this coveted title.
