On March 12th Mini Red and Orange players took part in an internal tournament held every term. With the sun out, the weather could not have been better for spending a few hours competing on the court.
Eight Mini Reds, some of whom were playing in their first ever tournament, were first to take to the court, playing matches to 10 points. With some very close games and points, Sam and Corben won their respective groups without losing a single match. They then competed in a hotly contested final with Sam emerging as the winner by a margin of 10 – 7.
The Mini Orange Match Play was next with six players facing off in a single group, so everyone played everyone else. These matches saw some of the tightest games of the day with many of them going to a deciding set. After all the matches were done, Dylan clamed the title without losing once and Anna, whose only loss was to the eventual champion, took second.
Special thanks must go to all the umpires who not only helped set everything up and keep score, but also encouraged the kids to try their best and have fun. Well done to everyone who competed and thanks to those who came to support them. Good luck in the next term's tournament!
Finally, many thanks to Cameron Stewart for supplying such a great photograph!
