Stay Safe at Busby
Staying safe before, during and after play
Our booking system helps us manage how our courts are utilised during the Coronavirus outbreak. We retain this information through ClubSpark and that collected during social tennis sessions in case they are requested through the Test and Protect (contact tracing) process. The social distancing and hygiene measures in place for the Courts and Clubhouse are there to reduce the possible spread of the virus so the Club expects everyone to comply with them to maintain the safety of all members.
Tennis Scotland has produced detailed guidance on restricted play for Tennis Clubs, Coaches and Players in Scotland in partnership with the LTA and this document is also in line with the Scottish Government guidance on outdoor exercise. As the new strain of the virus circulates, it is more important than ever that we all play attention to the guidance to keep both ourselves and other members safe on court.
In the section below are several extracts from the current guidance from Tennis Scotland and the Scottish Government. Please ensure that you follow them.
Guidance from Tennis Scotland and the Scottish Government
- Players should adhere to the Scottish Government’s physical distancing guidelines (staying at least 2 m away from others), and practice public health advice for hygiene.
- People who are symptomatic should self-isolate for 10 days and household members for 14 days as per NHS guidance. No one who is self-isolating should attend a sports facility/activity (this includes anyone who should self isolate after returning from an overseas country not on the Scottish Government’s exemption list). If you have a continuous cough, high temperature, or loss or change in taste or smell, then you should not take part in tennis activity, and should self isolate and request a coronavirus test right away. Further information is available at www.NHSinform.scot/test-and-protect or by calling 0800 028 2816 if you cannot get online.
- When playing outdoors, adults and children aged over 12 must physically distance both before and after activity but do not have to during activity.
REMEMBER:
- clean hands and surfaces regularly
- stay 2 m away from other people when not on court
- Spectators are not permitted unless supervising a child and/or vulnerable person
- self-isolate and book a test if you have COVID-19 symptoms (new continuous cough, fever or loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste)
- when you use our booking module to book a court, remember to add the names of everyone else playing for contact tracing purposes-called adding players on ClubSpark
In addition, NHS Scotland has launched a free mobile app designed to help with contact tracing efforts and slow the spread of COVID-19. The app will alert users if they have been in close contact with another app user who tests positive for coronavirus. Busby Tennis Club would encourage all players who can download this app to do so.
Local Protection Levels and their impact on Busby
The Scottish Government Covid protection levels (sometimes known as tiers) set out measures that can be applied nationally or locally depending on the prevalence of the virus across Scotland. Tennis Scotland has produced a helpful summary of the baseline restrictions for each protection level showing what that means for tennis activity and this is what we base our approach on for tennis at Busby. For a fuller description, please refer to this Tennis Scotland document which gives tennis restrictions by level: Tennis Scotland-tennis activity by level
All areas of the clubhouse should now be open except that the showers will not be in use.. Members should try to maintain at last 1 m away from others indoors. We will gradually update all signage to reflect the new arrangements but please always remember to wear a face covering inside the clubhouse and regularly sanitise your hands.
