Whitchurch Fire Fundraising

Thanks to Whitchurch Fire Brigade's annual charity firework display, Cardiff Stars are able to continue to provide tennis lessons for adults and children with learning disabilities.
Fireman Richard Higson and his son Archie from Ysgol Plasmawr helped organise the event and presented a cheque for £1500 to the club at its weekly improver class. This donation is a huge help for the club and the money raised will support court hire, coaching costs and equipment at learning disability sessions.
After 16 years as the driving force of the club, founder Kay Griffiths is handing over the reins Tennis Squad Head Coach Rob Wedlake as the new club Chair. Her contribution to the club and the disability tennis community has been immeasurable, recognised by Tennis Wales as a past recipient of the Welsh Volunteeer of the Year award.
Under Rob's management the club will continue its popular adult improvers session at David Lloyd Cardiff with coach Omega Sayer, and also launch new activities for adult beginners, school and community groups at the Cardiff City House of Sport with Diamond Tennnis Academy coach Chris George.
