Week 4 Round-Up

Despite a lot of strong performances from Carlton's teams, there was sadly little to show for their efforts in week 4 of the 2022 season.

Beginning the week on Tuesday was our 2nd and 3rd teams. It was a near perfect display in the 2nd team's 15-1 win against Birkdale 3. That win keeps them in mid-table in the fifth division.

Sadly it wasn't the same outcome for our 3rd team in their 11-5 defeat against a Hillside 3 team featuring plenty of tricky players. Despite matching their opponents in the men's and women's doubles, an early 7-1 lead after the mixed was enough of a lead for Hillside to maintain. While that loss keeps them bottom of the table, they have still yet to play the teams that are also struggling at the bottom of the sixth division.

Thursday saw the Liverpool team take to the court against Aughton B. It was largely a well fought contest throughout the evening. But despite having opportunities to grab something from the match, Aughton came out 4-2 winners. This leaves the Liverpool Team still looking for their first win of the season.

It was a strange week for the 1st team. After initially scheduled to play on Monday, an unfortunate heavy rainfall waterlogged the courts and forced their match with Formby 2 to be rescheduled to the following Sunday. Despite the weather being much more cooperative, the result was not. Formby's strength in depth prevailed in their 12-4 win.

Thank you to everyone who represented the club this past week.
