Week 6 Round-Up

It was a mixed bag for Carlton LTC this week as we approach the halfway point of the 2021 season.

After beginning the season with 3 defeats, the 1st team have responded with a hat-trick of wins. The latest being a narrow 9-7 win over Mawdesley 2. After being 6-2 up after the mixed doubles, the visitors were looking to turn the result around. But it was the Carlton ladies that got them over the line to further establish their mid-table position in the 3rd division.

Mirroring that form is the 3rd team, who collected their third straight win in the 6th division. Their commanding 14-2 win over North Meols 4 ended a run of five consecutive 12-4 results. That win now moves them up to fourth in the table.

As for the 2nd team, it was a comfortable 13-3 defeat away at North Meols 3. The inconsistency to the first half of the season keeps them on the bubble of the relegation zone in the 5th division.

For the Liverpool team, it was an evening of near misses as they came up short in their 4-2 loss to Eccleston Park B. With many opportunities to claim a draw or even a win, it was visitors that held their nerve at the right time.

Thank you to everyone who participated for the club and good luck in next weeks matches.
