We hope you've all had a good winter and are looking forward to the coming tennis season as its about to start!
Our courts are now ready and match practice will be Monday and Tuesday from 6pm on Monday 10th and Thursday 13th and Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th April.
League matches begin week commencing 24th April 2022. League fixtures are located on our Team Fixtures page.
Your team captains this year will be:
Kris Cooper - 1st Team Captain
Mick Walsh - 2nd team Captain
Dave Mulligan - 3rd Team Captain
We will be having our first Friday night Club Night on 14th April from 6pm.
Our kids club will begin on Friday 21st April. Unfortunately, the coach who was due to join the club had to withdraw. We are making every effort to find an LTA qualified coach and will keep you posted. Please note, at least one parent has to be a social member. If you do want to use the courts, then full membership is payable.
Membership forms are located in our membership section, Please complete, sign and return either by hand or by contacting us asap and no later than 30th April. Payment should be made in full by 30th April too. [If this is a problem for you, please do let us know to discuss alternate payment options.]
Every Friday night is club night and our social calendar will be confirmed soon. Each team organises one Friday night of food and fun plus there'll be fun tennis tournaments, bbqs etc. Some of the evenings will be for adults only and others for everyone to join in.
For any new members, as our club play on natural shale courts, there is a number of notes of etiquette that need to be abided by everyone:
- For the right shoe on shale, the sole will need to be in a pattern that is known as the 'herringbone'. This will help with movement on court as well as getting the shale off your sole should it start piling up. It also helps the surface as certain soles can potentially damage it. You can purchase Tennis shoes with this type of sole at Southport sports shop Arcade Sports.
- After playing on a shale court, you need to either brush or mat the court with the brushes and mats provided. This is done to help redistribute the loose top dressing and smooths it out after play.
Look forward to seeing you all in the coming weeks.
