Club Update

This message was broadcast to all members who have supplied valid email addresses, and is repeated on our Facebook page:-

Hello Everybody

Hope you and your families are all keeping well, and finding new things to do!

Today’s re-imposition of lockdown in the east of our region comes at a time when we were looking forward to some relaxation of the restrictions, and formulating plans for the future. It is a timely reminder of just how fragile the situation still is.

Although the re-opening of the clubhouse and facilities may be some way off – Phase 3 at the very earliest, and subject to instructions and restrictions laid down by the Scottish Government - the committee can begin to outline how we envisage things might operate. The biggest change will be online booking for ALL club areas, maintaining social distancing by dividing both the Gym and Aerobics Room into two, either section being bookable online. Further details to follow in due course. In the meantime, to allow sufficient time to get unregistered members onto the ClubSpark booking system – this is by individual invitation through me, you can’t self-register – please email me your request and I’ll send you your personal link via the ClubSpark platform. The original invitations sent on joining the club were only “live” for 4 weeks, so if you didn’t take it up at the time it will have long expired.  Anyone currently registered will already have access to all bookable areas. Several people didn’t provide an email address on joining the club, so please pass the word round your friends.  No email, then no registration, no booking, no use of the club.  Similarly, fob access to the club and the online booking system will only be made available to members with an active payment record at the time of re-opening. This information will also be placed on our Facebook page. The likely booking conditions if/when we can re-open will be

  • Do NOT enter the building if you feel unwell and show any of the well-publicised Covid-19 symptoms.
  • You MUST observe all current hygiene procedures – wash your hands before coming to the club and use the sanitising hand gel provided on entering the club – you may prefer to bring and use your own.
  • Arrive dressed for play/training, and shower at home afterwards – changing rooms and showers will be closed off.
  • Your booking is on the hour, for 50/55 minutes play or training only. The remaining 5/10 minutes MUST be used to clean and sanitise the club equipment used, ready for the next person.
  • You MUST exit the club within these final 5/10 minutes, maintaining social distancing as necessary.
  • Club CCTV and booking records will be used to monitor use of all club facilities, and disciplinary action under the club rules and constitution taken if unsafe practices are found.
  • Please help to keep yourself and all our members safe

The 5/10- minute gap rule will be firmed up in the light of the latest guidance and first-hand experience of how long it may take to clean up and vacate the building. As mentioned above, club CCTV and fob records will be used to monitor bookings, and anyone found not following club and government instructions will be subject to club disciplinary action – fob and booking system deactivation, suspension of membership, etc.

This is only a basic framework, and is subject to update as further information is received from the Scottish Government. We have no idea of the likely timescale, as you will all appreciate. Undoubtedly it is likely that ALL gyms and sports clubs will have to adopt similar regimes.

Stay safe

Regards

Doug
