Latest News (27th August 2020)

Just some further observations as we prepare to open the club again. Please read everything and note carefully.  Although the committee will be coordinating the remote monitoring of real-time and historic CCTV, online booking and fob records, there will be no substitute for everyone playing the game and sticking to the simple and sensible guidelines outlined to keep us all safe. Let us be very clear, there will be no second chances for anyone abusing the system, and not complying with the very reasonable rules we have put in place. In addition to the measures your volunteer committee will take, you, the members, need to continue to be our additional eyes and ears. Please do not tolerate clear abuse of our new procedures, and inform any committee member - in complete confidence - of any booking or training contraventions. The online system makes it very clear when areas are booked, so there should never be any situation where someone turns up only to find their booked session being used. Such instances will result in the termination of the offending member’s membership, with fob and booking access cancelled immediately. The new measures are there for everyone’s protection, and abuse will not be tolerated.

Geoff Legg has generously volunteered to act as our Covid-19 Officer, and has carried out the necessary registration and online training required by Sport Scotland. All of the necessary safety measures are in place. We have of course had a recent major deep clean of all permitted areas of the premises by a team from our commercial cleaning company.

As we will be operating at much reduced capacity due to these safety measures, we will all need to exercise some patience while the new regime beds in. You may need to look at changing your training slots to lower demand times. We may also need to tweak the booking system in the light of experience, and any positive suggestions will be welcome in due course – please don’t just moan that you can’t get the session you want; it’s a completely different world we’re living in now, with safety and common sense first, closely followed by compromise and patience.

One further area of concern at the moment is our squash courts. The very latest information from Scottish Squash is that for over 12s only solo squash (or racketball) is permitted, though members of the same household may play together. Solo squash/racketball is for the booker only – no sharing the time with your mates. So, solo squash/racketball for most people until we have further news.

I’ve recently progressed the SG’s answer to an earlier aircon question, but still await guidance, so aircon may be off.

Please read and note the updated conditions under which we must operate: -

  • You must have an active payment record – your fob and booking system access will NOT be activated unless this is in place.
  • Entry to the building MUST only be made against a confirmed online booking. DO NOT JUST TURN UP ON SPEC TO USE THE FACILITIES.
  • Do not let anyone else enter the club against your fob – if they are members and have a booked slot, they will have their own fob, which they MUST use.
  • Do NOT go to the club if you exhibit or suspect you have any of the well-publicised Covid-19 symptoms.
  • Use of the online booking system, fob records, plus club CCTV will allow contact tracing should it be necessary. Booking and fob records will be regularly checked against CCTV for compliance.
  • Once we reopen the building, so from the 31st August onwards, Tennis Court bookings will be made via the ClubSpark system, not the current text/email arrangement. The gate will be re-secured with a different padlock, with access via the main building.
  • All previously published hygiene and sanitising measures must be strictly adhered to. There are Sanitising Stations throughout the building.
  • Toilets will be open, subject to additional safety measures, (please follow the detailed instructions in each area), but changing rooms and showers will be closed off, so as indicated before, please arrive dressed ready for action, and shower at home.
  • Both Gym and AR are divided into two bookable areas, with a selection of kit in each half. Transparent screens divide these areas. Aircon will be switched off, although we are seeking the latest advice on this, as opinion appears to be divided.
  • AR1 contains Treadmill, Bike and Stepper; AR2 has Treadmill, Bike and Rowing Machine.
  • Gym1 has Lat Pull Down, Cable Machine, Leg Extensions, Bench and Dumbbells; Gym2 has Leg Press, Bench Press, Squat Rack & Pull Ups, Dipping Bars, access to collect Dumbbells, if social distances maintained. Due to its central position, the Shoulder Press is unusable, and is taped off. DO NOT USE.
  • In the last minutes of your session fully clean and re-sanitise the kit you have used, and exit the building in good time.
  • Carefully wash your hands on reaching home

Keep safe and sensible Everyone!
