Covid Update

Hello Everyone

As you will have no doubt heard, as per Scottish Government instructions, we will have to observe some further restrictions from the 27th of December. This unfortunately most directly affects squash and racketball players – again – and the latest comment from Scottish Squash is copied below

"On the 21st December 2021, the Scottish Government announced temporary guidance for all non-professional indoor contact sport for adults. The guidance recommends that all non-professional indoor contact sport for adults should not take place for a three week period from the 27th December 2021."

Essentially, we are back to either solo practise or household bubbles on the squash courts for at least the next three weeks. Because of the proximity of players and the enclosed environment, squash/racketball has been classed – some say unfairly – as a “contact sport”, which may be the case with some people we play!

For everyone else, it is vital that all of the club’s current hygiene and social distancing measures are followed rigorously, to allow the club to operate without further difficulties. There is additional information and guidance on both the Scottish Government and Scottish Squash websites which should be read in conjunction with my message.

Despite the continuing and advancing doom and gloom I hope you all manage to keep your Christmas plans together, and have a great time over the holiday period. But above all, stay safe.

All the best

Doug
