Adult Group Coaching

Castletown Lawn Tennis Club finished its fourteenth year of its ever popular adult group coaching sessions recently with a tournament. With a late start to the season it was only possible to run one eight week course. However twenty three adults took part in sessions which were split into groups of beginners and improvers.

As always the final week was played as a tournament, with players showing what they had learnt during the previous seven weeks. The beginners played a singles tournament and the improvers played a doubles tournament with each partnering a current club member.

The beginners showed how they had improved with some really great points played. At the end of the hour the winner was Reagan Dee who won all her games. Runner-up was Cath Gelling who lost two games but only by a narrow margin.

In the improvers group the players were split into two groups. Playing tie breaks to ten it was always going to be close. Group one saw George Dassoulas and Karen Murphy top the group with Hayley Duffus and Will Watterson second having finished on the same amount of points but on count back having lost to George and Karen. In Group two Peter Skelton and Ron Ronan finished top with Ruth Donnelly and Mark Young in the runners-up spot, similarly losing out on count back.

The two group winners then contested a very close final which was won 10/9 by Peter and Ron.

Club coach Neil Ronan presented the prizes and the players enjoyed drinks and a BBQ to finish off a very successful eight week course.
