CSPTC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

CSPTC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

Entries have now closed for this year's Club Championships.  You can see the draw and follow the results here

Below are the rules for the competitions

Club Championship Rules - Tennis

  • A seeding process will be used during the draw for the Club Championships to ensure that (a) in the doubles competitions the pairs are as evenly matched as possible; and (b) in the singles competitions, the highest ranked seeds are not drawn against each other in the early rounds
  • Before the final, each match will consist of two sets (regular tie breaks to be played if the score reaches 6-6).  If the score after two sets is one set all, a championship tie-break will be played (first to 10 points and two points clear)
  • On Finals Day each game will be decided over three sets (regular tie breaks to be played if the score in any of the sets reaches 6-6).
  • The deadlines for each round will be announced when the draw takes place and published on the club noticeboard / club’s website.
  • Players are responsible for contacting their opponents and the match should be arranged by mutual consent.
  • If players cannot complete a game by a specified deadline the tournament organisers should be informed. The tournament organisers may grant an extension or disqualify the player(s) unable to complete the match.
  • Immediately after a match has been completed the winning player or partnership should send  the result to the tournament organisers (details of how this is to be done will be provided after the competition draw has been made).
  • Doubles competitions - If one player has to drop out of the competition for any reason / at any stage, the tournament organisers will identify a suitable replacement (they will identify a player with the same / similar seeding as the player who needs to drop-out)

Club Championship Rules - Pickleball

Tournament Rules

  • Matches are best of 3 sets
  • Each set is first to 11 points, winning by at least two clear points
  • For the Doubles competition group stage (round 1), the winners of a match accrue 2 points.  Once all matches have been played, if two teams have the same points score, league position is based on the overall difference between match points won minus match points lost (cf goal difference in football).  If two teams are still equal, they will play another match against each other (best of three sets).  At the group stage, the matches can be played in any order. The first named individual or pair is responsible for ensuring the match is played, although any person can set the ball rolling.
  • Please complete each round by the date specified

Matchplay Rules

  • Please use the official singles & doubles pickleball rules.  A simple set of rules can be found here.  If you are having trouble sleeping and want the full 88-page set of rules they can be found here
  • This video emphasises some of the key rules, together with new rules for 2024.  In particular, please note the rules for serving (paddle must be on an upward swing, ball must be hit below waist height, paddle head should be parallel with wrist); a ball is out if the contact area is outside of the line.
