Good news for Chantry members.

You will have heard that some tennis is now permitted and the courts are looking very good..

We have considered the advice from the LTA, coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-venues and concluded that we can devise a safe, compliant way to allow play.

We will not slavishly repeat the LTA guidance but will rely on members to follow it and use their common sense to both stay safe and ensure the safety of others.

The Club will not provide any PPE for members so you must bring your own. There are sinks for hand washing with cold water outside the Clubhouse.

Please wear a glove when using the drag at the close of play and all players should please wash their hands after play.

The Clubhouse remains off limits and closed, please do not use it nor access it for any purpose.

Currently the two Junior courts and Court One have nets in place and are fit for play but the other two should be ready very soon. Please drag the courts in the usual way after play.  Combination padlocks will be fitted, please keep the padlocks safe and spin up the combination even when the padlock is open for it is easy to get the combination from an open padlock displaying the numbers!.

Please bring along your own tennis balls and mark them as per LTA guidance.

Rather than risk breaching social distancing during play allow a let and request that a neighbouring court kicks your ball back.

Please do not play for more than 30 minutes if people are waiting for a court.

There is plenty more season left to enjoy without the burden, or financial benefit, of the festivals so we ask that members do pay a £50 sub this year (by 30th. June please) or in the alternative pay at the end of each month a sum representing £3 each per session played.

Such payments can be made remotely to our account Chantry Tennis Club bank account, be sure to give your name as a reference.

The LTA have also allowed coaching to take place. Rollie writes:

'When you email members telling them that they can return to our wonderful tennis courts, if you wish, you can say that I am available for one to one coaching. Especially those member who just want to get back on court and hit a lot of tennis balls and exercise. My number is 07768 840501.

Wendy at the sports shop Maurice Robinson, is answering their calls on 01214443021 and local deliveries over £10 are free. She can send photos of stock if you want to browse.

Hope to see you all soon. Keep safe and,

Come on Chantry!
