Update on 15th September 2020
Further guidance has been released by the LTA in relation to organised club play, coaching and booked private play. For private bookings by members no more than 6 people may meet at any one time. A summary of some key points is listed below but we ask you to familiarise yourself with the linked LTA document.
Please consider those playing on other courts and discuss with those that you are playing with what people are comfortable with e.g. continue with marked balls.
The clubhouse is now open for use of toilets and floodlights under Covid restrictions which have been outlined to all nembers by email. The kitchen may be used for water and preparing a hot drink, but please bring your own mug and tea towel and use the provided wipes to clean any surfaces you touch. The first aid kit should not be used, please bring your own.
New key points:
1) Both singles play and doubles play is permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as you remain 2 metres apart as far as possible - meaning that four people from different households can now play doubles
2) Players do not now need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls - however, if you choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure you do not touch your face during play, and you should clean your hands before play and immediately after finishing (use alcohol gel if required)
3) Coached sessions have resumed under restrictions. Please see more info on coaching here.
4) Club play Saturday afternoon sessions have resumed with a maximum of 30 players. A member of the committee is in charge of each session and will direct the flow of play. Please sanitise your hands before play and when changing courts.
Please book a court before arriving at the facility. We are pleased to let you know that all members can now book courts up to a week ahead, maximum of 4 bookings, each booking up to 2 hours. Only court 8 is not bookable (reserved for coaching). Please remember to cancel your booking if you are no longer able to use it. We ask that you vacate 5 minutes before your session ends to allow a change of play without impeding social distance guidelines. Following your booking, if nobody arrives for the next hour, you are of course welcome to carry on. We ask you to do this to help adhere to social distancing and we hope this will encourage you to use the facilities, but please remember to follow our guidelines outlined by LTA as well as ours here below.
Bookings are temporarily limited to members only due to the Covid19 restrictions on play but public free courts are available at Park Road. Alternatively temporary membership packages to end December are available.
When you come to play, we therefore ask you to come prepared. You will need to bring:
Your own tennis balls (marked so they do not become mixed with others)
Your own pre-filled water bottle
Also consider bringing a small first-aid kit as a just in case
The usual other items, a racket might help!
Please use hand sanitiser/anti-bacterial wipes when opening and closing the gates to the courts.
Please use hand sanitiser/anti-bacterial wipes when adjusting the height of the net. If entering the clubhouse to use the net height adjuster please sanitise your hands with the gel provided on entering and leaving the clubhouse.
If you are using the clay courts, please bring with you a disposable pair of gloves for using the sweepers at the end. A clean pair of reusable gloves can be used, but only use them for this purpose at the end of your play.
Please report any issues or concerns to our secretary Emily, [email protected] so we can address these as quickly as possible.
