Senior Ladies Cheshire Shield 2023

The 50+ age group was once again played in the autumn, indoors at David Lloyd Warrington, refereed by Julia Bond.

The draw was based on an 8 club entry. The clubs who entered  were;

Bowdon

Bramhall Lane

Hale

Hartford

Hoylake

Heswall

Nantwich

With only 7 teams, this  unfortunately led to a box of 3 and a box of 4. A box of 3 is always going to be tricky with a round robin format, followed by the winners of each box progressing to the final.

The format of the matches was Fast 4  with match tiebreaks if needed in any deciding set . Scoring was sudden death deuce, receivers choice.

The winners of Box A were Nantwich who narrowly beat last years winners Bowdon. The winners of Box B were Bramhall Lane.

Both Nantwich and Bramhall Lane  came into the final with both their pairs with a 100% sets record. This was potentially going to be an extremely close final....... and it was!

With the match tied at 1 all, a championship tie break with 1 from each pair was required to crown our 2023 champions with a strong partnership from Bramhall Lane sealing the victory!
