10U Boys County Cup took place on home soil at Hoole Tennis Club. Tony Green and Max Enston were in charge of the team which included 6 players. The boys started strong against Hereford & Worcester winning all the singles matches and winning at number 1 in doubles, the only loss came at number 2 doubles. Next up was Derbyshire, again we won all the singles and this time we won both doubles beating Derbyshire 6-0 which set up a shootout with Yorkshire for top spot on Sunday. The boys were up against a very strong doubles team with us only winning 1 of the singles matches which meant we we’re 1-3 down going into doubles. Unfortunately for Cheshire we lost both doubles which meant we finished 2nd in the group.

The Girls 10U team we’re in Malvern for the weekend. We had a team of 3 coaches looking after the team, Lauren Banks, Cerys Hughes, and Jamie McCracken. The girls started the weekend very strongly beating Hereford & Worcester 6-0 with some standout performances from the girls. Next up for the girls was Derbyshire, where we won at 2,3, and 4. Lucia won at number 3 in a match tiebreak to give the girls momentum going into the doubles 3-1 up. We won both doubles convincingly to win the tie 5-1. On Sunday, the girls we’re up against Gloucestershire for top spot. The girls had to fight in in the matches winning some close matches in the singles and doubles. The girls we’re 3-1 up after the singles, which meant they only needed to win 1 doubles match. The girls managed to win both doubles and top the group to qualify for national finals. Well done to everyone involved.
