The asphalt arrived - and so did the rain (must be because it was day one at Wimbledon). So after two loads rain stopped play. The hot asphalt is laid between two metal strips (the temperature on arrival was 180 degrees), This is on top of the current surface raising the courts  surface  2.5 cm

During the rain there was no water retention as the asphalt is porous and drain holes have been drilled into the old surface.  Surface laying will resume throughout this week.
