On Thursday 19 September CTC’s men’s and ladies’ teams had an end of season mixed doubles American tournament. 

The tennis was fun and the standard of tennis was high. In the end, the ladies’ winner was Lisa Woods (78 points) and the men’s champ was David Peters (79). Well played both!

After the tennis, there was no team supper but there were drinks and nibbles, and prizes were awarded for performances over the course of the season.

The ladies’ team in particular had had a very successful season, amassing 117 points in the Middlesex League. The men’s team were able to celebrate avoiding relegation in both the Middlesex League and the National League by the skins of their teeth! 

Awards (socks) were given to:

• Eva and Lauren: most sets won (20 and 18 respectively)
• Liz (alongside Lauren 18, and Kirsty 16)  best new player: 9 sets
• Alison (after Eva): most improved, 9 sets last year to 15 sets this (NB Eva went from 7 to 20!)

Men’s prizes went to:

• Barnaby (alongside Ed, 11): most sets won, 10
• Nat: best ratio, 70%
• Roger (alongside Niklas) National League: 100% of matches won!
• Callum: most improved: 2 sets up to 6
