As the tennis match season gets underway things have been very busy at the club. There have been two Family Fun nights and both were well attended. The club took the opportunity of giving a presentation to our retiring Head Coach Jane Rushby at the first one. It remained a surprise until the last minute and thanks go to everyone for donating and coming along to the evening. It was great to see so many familiar faces around from Jane’s past coaching sessions as well as present members. Although she wont be a stranger to the club Ben Rushby has now taken over the role of senior coach.

He has begun some new initiatives such as the Box League where players arrange singles matches against others in their league and play against similar players to increase their playing opportunities at the club. These have started now and the first round will finish on June 1st. If you are playing in them please make sure you book beforehand so that you know thee will be free courts at the times you arrange. There is an app available from Clubspark to help you book courts from your phone. Details can be found at The info about the Clubspark court booker App is here on their website - https://sportlabs.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/206274475-Download-the-Booker-App

The club have purchased some new windbreaks and thanks go to Jeremy, Steve, Chris and Hector plus Dave Drake, for putting them up. Thanks also go to Julie  and Suzanne for their continued help with the flowers and weedkilling to keep the courts looking nice. We have been having difficulty regarding grass cutting around the top courts but the Maintenance committee of Steve, Grant and Hector have looked into mowing the area with conventional lawn mowers which has taken a long time but I’m sure you will agree it makes the area look much better.

There are events running throughout the summer to look out for, The Road to Wimbledon for U14 girls and boys will be on 27th May at the club. Please get in touch with Ben Rushby if you wish to enter. The Quorn tournament was run earlier and our representatives Steve and Parker Rigg with runners-up John and Paul Vernon will be going on to the next round in the middle of June. For adults the first of the social events will take place on May 18th which will be an American Tournament. Details are on the event section of the website or down at the club.

Looking forward, a date for your diary in the future is Sunday 23rd September for the Club Championship finals day. Keep the date free if you can and more details of the events will go on the Events page closer to September.
