Saturday Fun Tournament 17th May

20 players took part in our free Fun Tournament this year. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the standard of tennis at these Saturday tournaments seems to increase every time they are played.

The winners and highest scorers this time were Vikki Sharp and Nick Moore with identical scores. Both played exceptionally well and it was great to see Nick back after his recovery from a serious shoulder injury.

Prizes were also awarded to Terry White for his shot of the day and to Sarah Brockless, Loess Overbury-Tapper and Colin Potts for their sportsmanship in sharing play as a team.  With Riley Mckenzie being awarded the Junior Prize.

   

 

Garden Party – 20TH JUNE

It was good to see so many tennis players enjoying the Garden Party.

I feel we are enjoying the social events at the club in greater numbers than previously and this gives us a healthy connection to our social members and maybe a chance to recruit some of them to join us. It shows that we are all united in our enjoyment and appreciation of the extra facilities which our club offers over some other tennis clubs in the area.

A special “Thank You” goes to Amanda and her lovely staff for looking after everyone so well.

JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS – 29TH JUNE

A wonderful day of tennis at our first Junior Club Champs.

Showcasing tennis talent and resilience in the face of Sunday’s heat, our U8s to U18s showed not only their tennis skills, but also their sportpersonship.

Almost 50 players took part and were supported by their families watching in the glorious sunshine. An impressive display of our young tennis talent.

A big thankyou to Tom Perry and Nina Paine for organising and facilitating the event and also to all the helpers who organised side shows and club staff for organising a wonderful BBQ.

A great event and blueprint for the future.

PIMMS & WOODEN RACQUETS TOURNAMENT – 5TH JULY

A great turnout for the 2025 Pimms & Wooden Racquets Tournament.

Excellently organised by Club Captain Kevin Eastaugh.

The tournament saw the finalists Dusty Wilken & Sarah Ward against Nigel Ware & Mike Dixon battling it out to be the victors.

The Wooden Racquet Award went to Nigel & Mike awarded by Ray Allan.

C&D Tennis League

Captains are doing a great job lookout for the final results on the next newsletter.

Great to see members stepping up to play in the teams who have never played league matches before – Amanda Dumas, Sasha Mahendra, Riley Mckenzie, Kiran King.

Tennis Court Maintenance

Committee members headed up two court clean up mornings. The key was to remove leaves, debris etc around the perimeter of all the courts before cleaning of court surfaces.
