Limited Relaxation of Coronavirus Restrictions
Following yesterday's announcement to the Scottish Parliament about a slight relaxation to Coronavirus regulations, Tennis Scotland have provided clubs with updated guidance. The relaxation of guidance takes effect from Friday 12th. March.
Doubles play will now be permitted regardless of the number of households represented in a match. All players are required to maintain social distancing before, during and after their match.
Groups of up to fifteen may take part in non-contact sports activity. This means that, provided no more than fifteen participate which is now unusual, social tennis on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings can resume. Saturday social tennis will therefore resume from 13th. March and Wednesday evening social tennis from 17th. March. The clubhouse remains closed at all times, other than for access to the toilets.
Group coaching for any age group is now permitted where numbers do not exceed fifteen. No more than two coaches may lead the coaching. Ross will be considering this and will email members over the weekend with his plans to resume adult and teenage group coaching.
The one significant restriction that remains is that unfortunately members who do not live within the City of Edinburgh may still only travel a maximum distance of five miles over their local authority boundary to reach the club. Hopefully, this restriction will soon be lifted.
