Update to Members - June 4th 2020

This is a message to all members of Compton & Shawford LTC to announce some important updates.

1. Expansion of Play

a) As some of you are aware the LTA guidance on restricted play has been updated to allow doubles play to take place. The Committee has met and have no objections to members playing doubles on the courts from today onwards of they wish to do so. The updated LTA guidance for members is attached and we ask that you read this guidance before arranging or playing any matches. There are two specific requests from this guidance I would like to draw your attention to:

     - do not play if you are self isolating

     - hand hygiene is imperative. Bring and use alcohol gel to clean your hands after touching shared surfaces.

b)  We anticipate increased demand on courts as members start to play doubles and as a result we have decided to open Court 2 for use from Wednesday 17th June.

c) With the introduction of play on Court 2 we ask that you enter and leave the courts as follows:

     - Court 1 using the gate closest to the car park

     - Courts 2 & 3 using the gate accessed from the playing fields.

d) We will further alter the booking timetable from 17th June to allow hour and a half sessions to be booked and to reduce the ‘maintenance’ period between booked sessions to 15 minutes. As a reminder we introduced the ‘maintenance’ period to make sure players from one booked session have time to leave the court before players for the next booked session enter the court.

2. Court Painting

I am sure you will all be delighted to know that we have had confirmation that the courts will be repainted from Tuesday 9th June. Sports Surfacing, who are doing the work, did not operate  during the Lockdown period to protect their employees but are now back up and running.

Unfortunately this does mean we need to close the courts again for eight full days [three for the work to take place and five for the paint to fully dry], from Tuesday 9th June to Tuesday 16th June inclusive. It is a shame that this has to happen when we have just re-introduced play, but I know how keen you all are that the painting work is done and it will be lovely to have the job completed ready for expanded play.

3. Subscription Time Period Extension

With the return to doubles play and the opening of all courts from 17th June we have decided that the extension period for this years subscription will stop at June 30th. To be clear this means that the subscription you have already paid for 2020/2021 will provide you with membership from 1st April 2020 until 30th June 2021.

A final reminder that the Sports Pavilion remains closed and so there is no access to toilet facilities at this time.

As always we are happy to receive comments and feedback to [email protected]

With thanks for all your support to date.
