As the league season comes to an end Congleton Lawn Tennis Club are celebrating as their Mens A team proudly sponsored by Tiffin of Congleton have regained the South and Mid Cheshire First Division championship from close rivals Nantwich A.Returning team captain Matt Parker guided the team to the top of the division from week one and they stayed there for all fourteen weeks of the season
Mens E and F teams have narrowly missed out on promotion - finishing third in divisions four and five respectively.Both teams had much improved seasons compared to 2018.Captains Ian Collins and Stuart Warburton should be proud of their teams achievements
Mens D under the captaincy of Ian Oakley consolidated their position in division three after being promoted last season and Mens G team put in some excellent performances in division five
On the negative side Mens B have been relegated from division one after a two year stay and Mens C will return back to division three after just one season in division two
In ladies tennis Ladies C were narrowly pipped for promotion from division three - finally finishing in third place. Ladies B team finished mid table in division two whereas Ladies A and D were unfortunately relegated from their respective divisions.However the ladies D and E teams did blood some new faces this year and both teams had some encouraging performances - none more so than the D teams home victory over Alsager B
In mixed tennis the A and B teams competed in the first division and both will remain their for 2020
Attention now turns to the knockout cup matches , with Mens A and Mixed Vets being the reigning champions and looking to defend their crowns
