Dear Member
I hope you have been able to play tennis despite the wet weather we have had over the past couple of weeks.
There a few bits of information the club needs to share with you:
I have been handed a tennis racket which was left at the courts on Tuesday – let me know if it is yours.
Covid Restrictions
At the Zoom committee on Monday 6th July, the feasibility of opening the clubhouse for the use of the toilet facilities was discussed. It was the unanimous decision of the committee that, at present, we could not put in place all the necessary measures to safely open the clubhouse. Please be assured that we will open the clubhouse as soon as is safely possible. We will review this decision regularly and are working towards finding ways to do so.
In the meantime, a First Aid box has been placed outside the back of Court 4 and hand sanitisers will be fitted inside the gates to Courts 1, 4 and 9.
Please continue to take responsibility for safety by following hygienic practices such as bringing your own hand sanitiser, not touching balls from different courts and staying socially distant
Please do not use the space behind the old clubhouse as a toilet.
Coaching Update (Head Coach - Craig Leese)
· Tennis for Kids courses start (Monday and Thursday 4-6)
· All spaces filled, 18 new (and 2 current) kids on those courses, hope that after 6 weeks they sign up and join the programme
· Next stage is the adults coaching, but need allowed number of players to lift
· Tuesday ladies and Thursday men's team practices will then return immediately
· Craig Leese is keen to get a cardio tennis session running as this can be popular.
· Istvan Kaplan is continuing with his Saturday morning sessions. Players of all abilities can attend, they just need to book in through him with only 5 players max allowed
Car Parking
The committee decided to mark out parking spaces since parking continues to cause problems. Please only park in the designated spaces.
Court Booking
·This has been a resounding success but as our enthusiasm to book courts and play has increased so has the pressure for courts. Some members have been unable to book a court because they are all full, then have found out later that some courts were empty. Please cancel a booking straight away if you find you are not able to use it
Please only book one court at a time.
Paying Guests
Members may bring along guests to play with them. The visitors’ fee is £5 per person and it is the responsibility of the member to pay the fee by BACS.
Buying Tennis Balls
I will be at the club on Saturday at 10.30 if you wish to buy tennis balls (£5 for a can of 4)
Kind regards
Lindsay Newton
