Due to bad weather the 2019 Town Mayors Charity Tournament was moved from Saturday 8th to Sunday 9th June
The event was kindly sponsored by Tiffin of Congleton who provided meal vouchers for the winners
The event was staged as an American Tournament , and was started by the new Town Crier calling all the competitors to the clubhouse for the drawing of the partnerships
The group stages were played in dry weather and the semi finalists were Matt Parker and Lindsay Newton , James Clemens and Helen Dyson , Kyle Mclellan and Rob McNinch , Simon Mcasey and Kim Bennett
Matt and Lindsay and Simon and Kim won their semi finals to earn a place in the final
The rain which had held off all afternoon began just as the final started but the players battled on watched by the other competitors who were keeping dry on the clubhouse balcony
Matt and Lindsay secured overall victory in a tight final to take the trophy and the prize vouchers
Mayor Sally-Ann Holland and her cadet Eloise Williams presented the trophy and prizes and accepted the proceeds from the tournament which will go to the Mayor's charities
Thanks went to sponsors Tiffin and to Eileen , Kerry , Savitri , Claire and Maria who provided excellent refreshments for everyone in the form of strawberries and cream and scones
