Sunday 19th saw the 2021 staging of the club mixed doubles tournament 

The event was played as an open draw with all pairs handicapped to try and even up the competition  

The first round losers went into a separate plate competition 

In the main draw the semi finals saw two close matches with Matt Parker and Helen Dyson beating Chris Garside and Kim Bennett and Julian Keen and Larysa Walls beating Mike Massey and Beth Hitchen 

In the final Matt and Helen came from
0-3 down to take the Burton Shield trophy and  the prize vouchers courtesy of Portobello Pizzeria 

Runners up Julian and Larysa took home vouchers from Bare Health

In the plate competition another good final saw Les Malgas and Jackie Simpson edge out Jonluka Moore and Anne Moore.Special congratulations went to Jonluka in his first tournament 

Les and Jackie won the vouchers from Von Sorrels 

Committee member Nick Wilkins presented the prizes , thanked all of the Congleton based sponsors , the players for taking part and the organiser Andrew Giltrap 

A good afternoons tennis was had by all

Nick Wilkins also received his prize for being one of the winners of the 2021 Daisybank Singles Challenge  - this was a voucher for afternoon tea for two
